“The hospital is in shock.
We’re all devastated,” her father, Andrew Boulangers, told the ABC.”
It’s a very special family, and we’re all very, very grateful for what we’re doing.”
Michelle was rushed into surgery where she later died.
Her baby’s name is now being withheld for privacy reasons.
The family’s lawyer, David Wessel, said his client had not been advised to be discharged from hospital because she was unresponsive.
“We are obviously distraught.
It’s just a tragedy that she has died,” Mr Wessel said.”
She’s the best mother that she could possibly be, but I just don’t think it’s right for her to die.”
If it was her own choice, she would’ve chosen to stay at home with the baby, because she’s just the kind of person that she is.
“A nurse who was at the hospital at the time and who wishes to remain anonymous said the hospital staff had been called to the operating room to assess the baby.”
When they came in, they immediately saw that the baby was unwell,” the nurse said.
Ms Boulangler was brought to the emergency department for treatment and she later succumbed to her injuries.
The hospital said it had been advised of the baby’s condition.”
Due to the nature of the injuries suffered by the baby and his mother, intensive care was not recommended for the child,” a statement from the hospital read.”
However, the baby is now recovering and in a stable condition in intensive care.
“The baby had been born to a mother with cerebral palsy, who was not immediately available for comment.
