A Canadian hospital worker has been admitted to hospital after being struck by a train.
The 24-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital, and police are still searching for a suspect.
The incident happened Saturday near the railway crossing at the University of Toronto’s campus.
Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation said in a statement that there was a derailment in the area, and that emergency crews were sent to investigate.
It said the train that struck the man was stopped by police.
The train was not expected to make it to the campus, but the driver was later arrested.
A spokesperson for the ministry said there are currently no passengers on board the train, which was travelling at 35 km/h.
Police said in an email that the man is the only person on board.
They did not release the driver’s name.
