KINGSTON, England (AP) King’s College Hospital in Kingston, England, is closing because of a lack of room and supplies, the hospital said Monday.
The hospital said it expects to reopen Wednesday after a “long and difficult” week.
It said the closure is a result of a shortage of beds, supplies and staffing.
Kingston Hospital said it had 583 beds available at the time of the shutdown.
It has a waiting list of about 5,500 patients, it said.
The university said it has taken a “provisional decision” to shut down the hospital’s emergency department, which provides emergency care for people with complex health problems.
