A family doctor and his daughter are on a quest to build a little more cash with their children’s medical visits.
Dr. William and his daughters, Amanda and Amanda (pictured above), have started a fundraising campaign to pay for the costs of attending the pediatric intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital Austin, where they work.
They’ve already raised more than $1,200, which will allow them to pay the costs out of pocket.
They’re now raising money to pay their own bills, which is why they’ve started a crowdfunding campaign, which lets you contribute up to $5,000 toward the cost of attending their son’s ICU stay.
The campaign, called Children’s Hospitals for Children, started as a way for Dr. William to make money with his time while working at Childrens.
The children’s department is located in downtown Austin.
He’s currently on a 10-week leave to focus on his research, but he’s not done yet.
Dr. David Mays, the chief medical officer for Childrens, told the Austin American-Statesman that he hopes the campaign will help the children’s staff earn more money.
“It’s a good way to pay off some of the bills and to help them make the transition to their own lives,” Dr. Mays said.
“This is the next step for them.
This is the beginning of the next phase.”
The fundraising campaign has raised over $9,000.
